Frequently Asked Questions

What topics do clients most often come to you with?

In our practice we work with both individual and couples issues.

Clients most often come with difficulties in relationships, long-term stress, anxiety, exhaustion, work-life balance, burnout or demanding life changes. Digital overload, screen time and finding a healthy boundary between the online and offline worlds are also very common topics.

In couples therapy we focus on couple dynamics and communication, and we specialise in emotional attachment in partner relationships.

How do I know if psychotherapy is right for me?

Psychotherapy can be useful not only in times of crisis, but also when someone is looking for a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships or recurring life situations. Common reasons include long-term stress, a feeling of overload, relationship difficulties, anxiety, uncertainty, or a sense of being “stuck” in a certain area of life.

How does the first consultation work?

The first meeting is mainly for us to understand together what brings you, what you expect from working together, and whether my way of working suits you. There is also room for your questions and for agreeing on the next steps.

How long does a session last?

An individual consultation usually lasts 50 minutes. For couples therapy, sessions may be longer depending on the nature of the work.

Do you also offer online consultations?

Yes, online consultations are possible by individual arrangement. Some clients find the online format convenient for reasons of time or work, when travelling, or if they do not live in Prague.

How often does therapy take place?

The frequency depends on the topic and on the client’s current situation. Sessions most often take place once a week or once every two weeks. We always agree the arrangement individually.

Do you also work with couples?

Yes. In my practice I have long worked with partner relationships, communication between partners and the topic of emotional attachment. Couples therapy can help, for example, with long-term conflicts, loss of closeness, crises of trust or demanding life changes.

What therapeutic approach do you use?

I draw on an integrative psychotherapeutic approach, which makes it possible to combine different therapeutic methods according to the needs of the individual client. In my work I mainly use an integrative and systemic approach, elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, work with emotions and attachment, crisis intervention and other professional methods.

Is the work confidential?

Yes. All consultations take place in confidence, in accordance with the ethical and professional rules of psychological and psychotherapeutic practice.

Does health insurance cover psychotherapy?

Since 2024 I have cooperated with health insurance companies within their prevention programmes. The options for a contribution differ depending on the particular health insurance company and the current conditions of the programme.

What is the difference between a psychologist and a psychotherapist?

A psychologist is a professional with a university degree in psychology. Psychotherapeutic education is a further long-term professional training focused on therapeutic work with clients. In my practice I combine psychological education with specialised psychotherapeutic training and clinical practice.

How quickly can the first changes appear?

The course of therapy is individual and depends on the topic and on the client’s expectations. Some people feel relief after just a few sessions; for deeper or long-term issues the work tends to take longer.

Can I come even without a specific problem?

Yes. Some clients come with a clearly defined topic, others rather with a feeling of dissatisfaction, overload or uncertainty. Such a situation can also be a good reason for a consultation.

Do you also work with work stress and burnout?

Yes. For more than six years I have worked as a psychologist within an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) for employees of international companies. In my practice I therefore often address work stress, exhaustion, burnout, high workload and work-life balance.

How can I book an appointment?

An appointment can be arranged via the contact form, by email or by phone. In your first message there is no need to describe your situation in detail — it is enough to say briefly that you are interested in a consultation.
